DeWalt 40V Max and 20V Max OPE Update

DeWalt 40V Max and 20V Max OPE Update

At the GIE Expo  late last year, DeWalt introduced their latest battery-powered OPE (outdoor power equipment). The DeWalt 40V Max Brushless Backpack Blower, DeWalt 40V Max Brushless Chainsaw, and DeWalt 20V Max Hedge Trimmer are all making their way to store shelves as we speak. These outdoor power equipment solutions expand their existing 40V Max system and 20V Max system, respectively.

The new lawn maintenance tools feature all the convenience of battery power – no gas/oil to mix, no emissions, no start up issues, less noise. All of DeWalt’s OPE have Xenoy housing to improve the impact-resistance. They comes with DeWalt’s standard 3-year limited warranty, 1-year free service, and 90-day money-back guarantee.

DeWalt 40V Max OPE Update

Now available in stores are two options for the DeWalt 40V MAX Brushless Chainsaw. The DCCS690H1 includes a 6.0 amp hour 40V Max battery and the DCCS690M1 comes with a 4.0 amp hour pack. The chainsaw features a low kickback 16″ Oregon bar and chain with LubriLink and LubriWell auto-oiling for continuous lubrication and tool-free tensioning system for quick bar and chain adjustments. Also, the new 40V chainsaw is equipped with a brushless motor that can deliver up to 100 cuts per charge using the 6.0 amp hour battery or up to 70 cuts with the 4.0 amp hour battery on 6 x 6 inch pressure-treated pine.

Jack Plating is already in the process of putting the DeWalt 40V Max Chainsaw through its paces at his North Georgia cabin. I received an email with this simple message from him:

“Dude, this thing is BEAST!”

– Jack Plating, PTR Reviewer

I think we can take that as a sign of good things to come. Look for his full review in the coming weeks.

Coming up this spring is the new DeWalt 40V MAX Brushless Backpack Blower. The new backpack blower features an activation switch on the handle that allows the operator to choose which battery to pull energy from or to lock the tool off for transport and storage. The backpack blower offers a full variable speed trigger and speed lock activated or deactivated with the push of a button.

The DeWalt 40V Max Backpack Blower can generate up to 450 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of air volume at 140 MPH and will be available with one or two of the upcoming 40V Max 7.5 amp hour batteries. While the new cordless blowers only need one battery is need to operate, a kit is will be available with two batteries for extended run time.

The backpack blower is compliant with noise-restricted areas putting out just 63 dB(A), making it ideal for working on noise-sensitive locations such as offices, schools, hospitals, parks and more.

DeWalt 20V Max OPE Update

Coming up in March is the DeWalt 20V Max Brushless Hedge Trimmer (DCHT820P1). This cordless hedge trimmer features a wrap around auxiliary handle that gives user a comfortable grip and a switch with lock-off. The new hedge trimmer has 22″ laser-cut, hardened steel blades with 3/4″ cut capacity for long blade life, lasting sharpness, and precise cuts. It’s a lightweight at just 7.8 lbs. Like the other tools in the DeWalt 20V Max OPE line so far, this is a pretty ambitious model. However, we were pleased with the performance we found in the 20V Max Blower, so I’ll be waiting in anticipation rather than skepticism.
