Greenworks 80V Pro 22-Inch Self-Propelled Mower Review

Greenworks 80V Pro 22-inch Self-Propelled lawn mower

Greenworks is a powerhouse when it comes to its product lineups – they’re diverse and extensive. This is especially true of their mower fleet, which covers a wide spectrum of residential and commercial needs. On that note, our reviewers recently put the self-propelled Greenworks 80V Pro mower (2548102) to the test.

Here’s what they thought of this 22-inch model’s performance and design.

Greenworks 80V Pro 22-Inch Mower Performance

Cutting Power

Starting with the power plant, the 2548102 runs on a brushless motor and an 80V battery. Together, the two deliver 2,700 RPMs during normal operation and 3,000 in Turbo. According to our reviewers, the performance matched the numbers. They’re testing in Central Florida, where they’re in the midst of the rainy season, so the mower had its work cut out for it.

That said, they liked what they saw.

    • Max Blade Speed: 2700 RPM, 3000 RPM (Turbo)
    • Deck Height: 1-4 in.
    • Drive Speed: 1.5-3.3 mph
    • Blade Type: Dual stacked

With the deck set to 3 inches, this unit confidently powered through Bahia grass. They encountered no bogging or stalls. Putting the Greenworks 80V Pro into Turbo, the mower’s performance noticeably increased. Specifically, it had no trouble handling dense overgrowth.

Furthermore, the stacked Razor Cut high-lift blades provided a clean, even cut.

    4-In-1 Capabilities

The 2548102 has mulching, bagging, side discharge, and Turbo leaf pickup capabilities. For mulching and side discharge, set the top-mounted selector switch to Mulching. This will close the internal mulch plug – a convenient feature.

For bagging and leaf pickup, set the switch to the Bagging position and affix the collection bag to the rear of the mower.

    Runtime

According to Greenworks, the 80V Pro should get you roughly 60 minutes of cutting time using the mower’s two 4.0Ah batteries (included in the kit). This translates to about 3/4 of an acre, which varies based on the conditions.

The 2548102 has two active battery slots, so there’s no need to stop and switch packs while you’re mowing. Another convenient feature.

And, because conditions like moisture, grass type, and length can affect battery performance, the manufacturer’s estimates might be a little on the generous side. Our reviewers are thinking more along the lines of half an acre.

If you’re consistently mowing more than that, you might consider one of the brand’s larger models.

    • Model: Greenworks Pro 2548102
    • Power Source: Greenworks 80V battery
    • Drive Type: Self-Propelled RWD
    • Deck Width: 22 in.
    • Deck Material: Steel
    • Deck Height Positions: 7
    • Wheel Diameter: 8 in. (front), 10 in. (rear)

      Blade and Drive Controls

In terms of the controls, the 2548102 has the same system and handle configuration as the 21-inch model. This includes the Turbo button.

Starting at the top, this is the control system and handle design that the 21-inch model uses, including the Turbo button. The handles slope downward from the center at a comfortable angle, and the foam grip will make your hands happier. There’s an LED level indicator for the two battery ports that light up when you hit the power button, self-propel bar, or blade bar.

The green button in the center is the speed adjustment.

      22-Inch Steel Deck

Just like the Greenworks 21-inch 60V Self-Propelled Razor Cut Mower , the 22-inch 80V Pro is equipped with a stamped steel deck, enhancing its durability. This adds extra weight compared to a poly deck, but that’s fine given that the 2548102 is a self-propelled model.

      Deck Height Adjustment

You can make deck height adjustments with a single-point lever. Considering its larger design and the accompanying weight, it would have been understandable to move to a 2- or 4-point system. Instead, the design team kept it simpler for you.

This mower has seven deck height positions ranging from 1 to 4 inches. This adds versatility to the mower’s ability to tackle a variety of grasses.

      Vertical Storage

As with most walk behind mowers, the Greenworks 80V Pro offers vertical storage – an asset when space is limited. Just pull the green tabs up to release and swing the handle forward.

      Additional Features

      • LED headlight
      • Compatible with all Greenworks 80V batteries

Greenworks 80V Pro Self-Propelled Mower Price

At this time, the Greenworks Pro 2548102 mower retails exclusively at Costco for $749.99. It comes with a side discharge chute, collection bag, and an extra high-lift blade. Greenworks backs it with a 4-year tool and battery warranty.

      The Final Word

Our reviewers gave Greenworks a thumbs-up on this model. It’s a dependable weekly mower and for a variety of lawn grasses, too. What’s more, the Razor Cut dual blade system and Turbo mode were a hit throughout the tests, allowing for a clean, efficient cut. If your yard is in the 1/2-acre range, this mower is a good choice.
