Worx Packs Chainsaw Power Into Maneuverable 5 In. Pruning Saw

The garden chainsaw design has been taking off these days, with popular models from Stihl and Milwaukee, to name a few. Now, Worx is getting in on the action as well with a model that runs on the 20V Power Share battery platform. The Worx Power Share 5 In. Pruning Saw applies the general chainsaw design to an ultra-compact, ultra-maneuverable tool that tackles your lighter-duty garden trimming with power and precision.

Worx Power Share Pruning Saw: The Big Deal

The first place where this pruning saw shines is in the size department. At under 4 lbs., it’s hard to imagine fatigue setting in too fast as you tackle everything from shrubbing and delimbing to on-the-go log cutting and storm cleanup. At this size profile, the Worx Power Share Pruning Saw can get into places not easily accessible to full-size chainsaws.

The 5 in. bar comes equipped with a reduced-kickback chain. This has a 0.3 in. pitch, 0.043 in. gauge, and 28 links. The Power Share motor drives the chain at 22 ft./sec. It can tackle cuts in branches up to 10 in. in diameter, and its offset position gives you a clear line of sight to your cut.

For safety, the Worx Power Share Pruning Saw features a retractable bar and chain guard that automatically retracts when cutting from above. You can also manually retract the guard when undercutting. A guarded handle design protects your trigger hand at all times as well.

What’s more, you can also equip the Worx Power Share Pruning Saw with the optional extension pole (WA4301). This gives you just over 4 ft. of extra reach, letting you get at those higher limbs without the use of a ladder.

Other Features

  • Auto chain lubrication
  • Onboard tool for chain tensioning

Side by Side

Like we said, we’ve seen this design cropping up a lot lately, but it’s mostly been geared toward the lawn and garden Pro. In the case of the Worx Power Share Pruning Saw, this design is geared much more for the homeowner. That said, we like to look at applicable comparisons to see how things measure up against each other.
