Bobcat Certified Approved Used Equipment Program

Bobcat Certified Approved Used Equipment Program

The Bobcat Certified used equipment program aims to save you money by certifying pre-owned Bobcat compact equipment for resale. It provides you with a lower-priced used machine and peace of mind. Each machine undergoes a detailed inspection by the dealer that Bobcat requires prior to being approved for the Certified Pre-Owned program. From the frame to the workgroup, controls, hydraulics, and more, every aspect of the machine is guaranteed fully operational and approved for duty. In addition, Certified Pre-Owned machines come with a Bobcat-backed Protection Plus extended warranty.

What Types of Equipment Does the Bobcat Certified Used Program Include?

The Bobcat Certified Used Program includes most of their compact equipment. They ensure the safety of the equipment prior to certification and also test it for proper operation. This includes running diagnostics on the engine, performing visual inspections, and ensuring that general maintenance has been performed. Bobcat fully inspects and ensures each piece of compact equipment is ready for use on the jobsite. Bobcat certified used equipment includes the following types of machinery:

  • Compact Track Loaders
  • Skid Steers
  • Mini Track Loaders
  • Excavators
  • Compact Tractors
  • Toolcat Utility Work Machines
  • UTVs
  • Telehandlers
  • Attachments and Implements

Certified Bobcat dealers are required to put every Bobcat Certified Used (Pre-owned) machine through a series of comprehensive multi-point inspections. Bobcat requires this before any piece of equipment can be approved for the program. All service also has to be performed by certified Bobcat-approved technicians. Before resale, they perform any required or due maintenance using only genuine Bobcat parts.

Bobcat Protection Plus Extended Warranty

Backing up their work, Bobcat offers their Protection Plus Extended Warranty on every sale. If you manage to find any material or workmanship defects you can ensure you’re covered for all major components. Specifically, the manufacturer-backed extended warranty covers powertrain, hydraulic components, and/or full protection.

The Bobcat Protection Plus Extended Warranty coverage period can extend up to 60 months or 5,000 hours.

How Old Can Certified Approved Used Equipment Be?

Four years. As it turns out, Bobcat caps the age of any Bobcat Certified Used machine at four years old (or less). That means you only get late-model equipment that should perform like-new. Also, at less than four years old, the equipment should feature most of the performance, operational, and technology advances you see in the newest Bobcat products.

About Resale Value

When it comes time to trade in or sell a used machine from your fleet, Bobcat Certified Used equipment should do well at holding its value. Since it has to maintain a regular maintenance schedule, has gone through a multi-point inspection, and only uses genuine Bobcat parts these machines should hold their market value further into their lifecycle.

Used Equipment Tax Breaks

Finally, recent tax breaks via section 179 and bonus depreciation now allow contractors to deduct 100% of the cost of used equipment in the first year they put the equipment into use. Additionally, the first-year bonus deduction for all qualified equipment also increased from 50% to 100% of its cost.
