Briggs & Stratton SimpliPHI Energy Storage System

Briggs Stratton SimpliPHI Energy Storage System

With orders starting June 14th, the Briggs & Stratton Energy Solutions SimpliPHI Energy Storage System (ESS) provides a new way to think about residential and commercial power. Briggs & Stratton SimpliPHI delivers an integrated, scalable power storage solution that uses proprietary hardware and software.

Briggs & Stratton, LLC acquired SimpliPhi Power, Inc., a California-based manufacturer of energy storage systems, in 2021.

What is Briggs & Stratton SimpliPHI ESS?

The Briggs & Stratton SimpliPHI Energy Storage System lets customers store, manage, and control energy from multiple generation sources. That can include solar or even LP and natural gas generators. The potential for savings occurs through the use of onsite battery storage. As evening power use typically costs less than daytime usage, shifting some power usage to the evening can save you significant money. Alternatively, making use of solar during the daytime to charge the battery system can also work in your favor.

Running an evaluation of how you collect, store, and use power helps you determine exactly where you stand to benefit the most.

How Does the Briggs & Stratton SimpliPHI Energy Storage Solution Work?

At its core, the Briggs & Stratton SimpliPHI system seamlessly integrates three core components. You have a 6 kW SimpliPHI inverter, any number of 4.9 kWh batteries, and their EnergyTrak management software.

The 6 kW SimpliPHI inverter centers the system with an integrated MPPT, or maximum power point tracker. This electronic DC to DC converter optimizes the match between any solar panels, the batteries, and the local power company. It works for solar or utility charging in either DC coupled or retrofit AC coupled systems.

The SimpliPHI Inverter works seamlessly with an array of batteries that can be wall-mounted. When installed, it provides an efficient and easy-to-use system for either residential or commercial use. Since the inverter has an 8-millisecond switchover time—it makes the system perfect for use as a whole-home (or office) emergency backup solution. Finally, the SimpliPHI inverter scales from just one to as many as nine units in any installation. This not only gives you redundancy, but it also delivers small 6kW increments to scale to your desired amount of power output.

Scalable 49kWh Batteries

Bringing with it over decade of experience managing energy storage, the Briggs & Stratton SimpliPHI ESS offers an all-new 4.9 kWh Battery. This appears to differs slightly from their original blocker-style batteries. The new design favors a low-profile look that mounts directly to the wall.

The batteries feature Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry and each device uses a robust Battery Management System (BMS). It integrates directly with the 6 kW Inverter and EnergyTrack management software. The SimpliPHI 4.9 battery runs cooler(a feature of LiFePO4) cells and has a longer cycle life to maximize life. Systems can scale from a single module to as many as 72. That yields a maximum energy storage capacity of 358.5 kWh! The SimpliPHI Inverter and batteries come IP65 rated for installation indoors or outside.

SimpliPHI ESS also features the EnergyTrak monitoring and control software platform. This lets users manage their energy usage right from a mobile phone or tablet. The app delivers real-time status and updates and can be used by either home or business owners.

“Our energy storage solutions are held to industry-leading standards. From the chemistry, form factor, and manufacturing processes of the batteries to the testing and validation requirements on behalf of our customers, we seek to provide a safer and more reliable solution.”

Catherine Von Burg, president and CEO, SimpliPhi Power

With its acquisition of SimpliPhi Power, Briggs & Stratton can now offer a full line of intelligent energy storage products.

You can order the Briggs & Stratton SimpliPHI ESS beginning June 14, 2022. For more information, visit their website .
