Truewerk T1 Werkpant Sets New Benchmark for Warm Weather Comfort

We connected with Truewerk when they first launched their line of game-changing workwear. For the most part, I really love what they’re doing. But in the great state of Florida, I need a heavy jacket exactly zero days of the year. Hot weather clothing is something I turn to in at least part of 10 months of the year. So when I got the opportunity to try out the Truewerk T1 Werkpant during the dog days of summer, I jumped all over it.

Recommendation

If you’re looking for an insanely comfortable pair of work pants, you have to give the Truewerk T1 Werkpant a shot. They’re the most comfortable work pants I own and their track record for durability is closing in on legendary.

They also make a great crossover pant for outdoor enthusiasts. I like them for hiking, kayaking, and fishing along with testing the newest power tools and knocking out projects.

Fit

I ordered my typical 36 waist x 34 length and the fit is exactly what I like. There’s a little give in the waist, but they stay up (I’m technically a 35W, but no one actually makes that). A belt ensures that they don’t go anywhere even if I load down the pockets.

The length goes down below my ankle, covering the tops of my low-cut work boots well but without getting under my heel. The Truewerk T1 Werkpant is literally the most perfect fit of any work pants I own.

Obviously, that changes from person to person. With waist and length sizes at 2″ increments for men’s clothing, every brand seems to be a little different. Truewerk just seems to have it dialed in for me.

Style

As a long kinda-sorta cargo pant style, the Truewerk T1 Werkpant has the look of both work pant and tactical/backcountry pant. By its nature, the material sits more like a dress pant than jeans or khakis but it’s also very clearly a utilitarian look. If you’re familiar with the stretchy, yet durable hiker-style, it’s more like that.

The pockets on these pants are much more than an afterthought. It starts with standard front and rear pockets. Both rear pockets have zippers to secure items like your wallet. The front right pocket has an additional shallow zipper pocket just above it where you might find a watch/coin pocket on your jeans.

Moving down the left leg, you have a cargo pocket with a hook and loop closure. Inside it is a fabric loop that you can use for clipping items to.

The right leg has a 2-in-1 pocket system going on. There’s a medium-size open pocket where I like to keep my cell phone. Truewerk designed it as a pen and knife pocket, but I prefer my EDC closer to my hip. Next to it is a side entry zipper pocket that’s a good secondary spot for your wallet if you like to keep it in a less obvious spot.

The bag of each pocket uses a weave to protect you from any sharp object that might try to poke through.

You have two color options to choose from—deep grey and sand. Both go with just about any shirt or boot color you prefer.

Comfort

I could say something like “these are the most comfortable work pants I own,” but that really doesn’t do it justice. When it comes to working in hot weather, the Truewerk T1 Werkpant is more like the feeling you get when you take that first long pull of a 5:00 beer.

They breathe, they wick away sweat, they stretch, they’re lightweight yet durable, and they act more like an extension of you than a piece of workwear you have to tolerate.

It doesn’t matter if I’m on my feet, bending down, or riding my bike to and from the office, they’re just flat out comfortable work pants. I don’t know that you can ask much more than that!

Build

Truewerk uses an 85% nylon/15% spandex material blend for these pants and you can definitely feel the difference between these and denim or polyester blends.

There’s actually an important benefit of the material choice aside from its durability—odor. Polyester holds onto body odor because it holds onto the oils that body odor is made of. It’s something I notice every time I wear polyester shirts, short, or pants. Nylon and spandex don’t hold onto those oils, so they don’t hold onto the smell after going through the wash.

The Truewerk T1 Werkpant is put together almost exclusively with double stitching. Combined with articulated knees, a gusseted crotch section, pocket corner rivets, I don’t have any durability concerns.

Price

When Truewerk first launched, the price was an obstacle for some folks. However, they seem to be closing the gap to other quality workwear. You can pick up the Truewerk T1 Werkpant for $79 direct from their website and get free shipping if you spend $125 or more.

That pricing is right in line with some of the better work pants you see from Carhartt or Duluth, but exponentially more comfortable.
