Can Mean Green Capture the Performance Homeowner Electric Zero-Turn Market?
In production since late 2016, Mean Green finally released its Nemesis residential electric zero-turn mower. Originally dubbed the Mean Green Nemesis NXR, the current model looks much more refined and less like their commercial mowers. The Mean Green Nemesis aims to target residential consumers with up to 5 acres of land who want a premium zero-turn mower. The question is whether they offer enough to justify the rather premium price on this premium mower.
Mean Green Nemesis Residential Zero-Turn Mower – The Big Deal
Mean Green claims the Nemesis can handle up to 2.25 hours of continuous mowing—about 5 acres—on a single charge. The 7.2 kWh lithium-ion battery has the equivalent of a 28 HP motor. That should be plenty to drive the 48-inch or 60-inch side-discharge Vortex deck. And while we’re impressed with that Mean Green battery, it takes a full 7.5 hours to charge it. That basically means you plug it in overnight in order to be ready for mowing the following day.
The mower looks well-built and has some advanced features like a touchscreen LCD and a full ROPS bar for rollover protection. They say it will tackle 15-degree slopes, and we can’t ignore the premium comfort suspension seat that looks nearly identical to the one found on their top-tier commercial mowers.
Mean Green Nemesis Standard Features

Mean Green Nemesis Price
Pricing for the Mean Green Nemesis electric zero-turn mower starts at around $16,499 for the smaller 48-inch deck. Add another $500 to get the 60-inch version. You can locate a dealer through the Mean Green Electric Mowers Dealer page .
Closing Thoughts
Mean Green Mowers hit the market early and has a lot of experience in building electric zero-turn mowers. As a result, they deserve a shot at the premium market—they’ve earned it. The real question is whether or not they’ll get many takers on a $16,000+ electric lawn mower in a market where 54-inch models are retailing for less than half that price—with similar features.
One possible solution is for commercial users looking to grab an electric ZTR for partial use in neighborhoods and municipal areas that might benefit from (or even require) a quieter mower. 5 acres a day doesn’t quite get you to the level of use provided by their larger mowers, however.
