Makita Backpack Mist Blower

Makita Backpack Mist Blower

When you think of tools that serve multiple applications, mist blowers should be on the list. Sure, they do one thing–spray. However, the versatility is in what comes out of them. We’re talking about insecticides, weed killers, lawn fertilizers, as well as tree and grass fungicides. In short, these are some of the applications at the core of your yard care regime. This goes for DIYers and professional lawn care specialists, which is exactly what Makita had in mind with their new backpack mist blower (GMP01).

Here’s a closer look.

Makita Backpack Mist Blower Features

Makita GMP01

First, the GMP01 runs off of a Makita-built brushless motor delivering the power of a 63cc gas-powered mist blower. That means simpler maintenance, no emissions, no 2-stroke fuel mixing, and, therefore, no stink.

Moreover, we think that such power, paired with a 4-gallon tank, will result in less downtime. The latter is particularly good for commercial users, which is the main market for this tool.

From what Makita tells us, their backpack mist blower will give you up to 80 minutes of run time. And that’s using two 40V XGT (8.0Ah) batteries.

Specs

  • Model: Makita GMP01
  • Battery: 2 x 40V XGT (8.0Ah)
  • Brushless motor
  • Spray range: 46 ft
  • Run time: 80 mins
  • Weight: 26.2 lbs

As for actual performance in the field, the GMP01 has a 46-foot spray range, making it a solid solution for users switching from gas to cordless. Furthermore, this backpack sprayer comes with two nozzles to fine-tune output.

For instance, the Ultra Low Volume Nozzle produces 14- to 85-micron droplets for fogging applications such as insecticides to get rid of mosquitoes and treat yards for ticks. The second nozzle produces 22- to 280-micron droplets for herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers.
