Traditionally, the vast majority of lawn and garden equipment sales have taken place in brick and mortar stores across the country. But, that trend has changed over the last few years as more and more sales have taken place through online retailers. Industry analysts expect Amazon lawn and garden sales to grow dramatically through 2019.
Amazon Lawn And Garden Sales Breakdown
According to Nathan Rigby, VP of Sales and Marketing at One Click Retail, Amazon lawn and garden sales have seen 19% year-over-year growth. This $2-billion-dollar-per-year-business should continue to grow in the coming year as well.
Gardening represents $430 million worth of sales, showing a 25% annual growth. The OPE market showed 29% growth and made $320 million worth of sales. As a big surprise to everyone, pressure washers made up $64 million worth of Amazon lawn and garden sales, which accounted for 35% annual growth.
Portable generators also made up a good amount of recent Amazon lawn and garden sales over the last year. Doubling in size over 2017, these accounted for $30 million worth of online sales. Of course, when dealing with spats of hurricane recovery in the South, perhaps there’s a good reason for that…At any rate, it doesn’t look like this trend will slow down anytime soon.
