Ford Super Duty Pickup Trucks Recalled For Interior Fire Risk

It hasn’t been a great week in the news for Ford truck owners. Following a recall on electric tailgates that may open accidentally , the latest Ford truck recall involves 547,528 Super Duty Trucks that are at risk of interior fire following a crash. While the culprit is different, it’s a pre-Christmas tune that seems to be on repeat after last year’s December 21st fire risk recall .

Ford Truck Recall Risk Details

Ford has identified a risk where the carpet may catch fire following a crash. There’s a seat belt pre-tensioner that kicks in during a crash. It may create excessive sparks that lead to ignition in the B-pillar area’s carpet or carpet insulation.

They cite just one incident so far and are currently unaware of any accidents or injuries due to it.

If you drive a Ford Super Duty pickup made between October 8, 2015 and October 29, 2019 in Ford’s Kentucky manufacturing plant, you should be receiving details from Ford on how to schedule your recall service.

490,574 of the trucks are currently registered to owners in the United States and its territories. Another 56,112 are in Canada and 852 are in Mexico.
