Worx Lets You Easily Prune with Less Stress and Effort

Several manufacturers have been releasing cordless pruners. So far, we love these new tools! Once a manual job, battery-powered pruners take a strenuous gardening activity and remove a great deal of effort. The Worx Nitro 20V cordless pruning shears may not be the first battery-powered shears on the market, but they get Worx into the game with what looks like a well-designed tool. We wanted to see how it compared to the available options from other brands.

Worx Nitro 20V Pruning Shears: The Big Deal

Worx WG330

Weighing just over 2 pounds with a battery, the Worx cordless pruning shears feature a compact design. With less weight and enough power and capacity to handle 1-inch diameter branches, homeowners should want to get their hands on this tool.

Like the Milwaukee M12 pruning shears , Worx provides a couple of cutting modes with its cordless pruning shears. Instead of using a mode button, however, Worx switches modes using a button combo. Press the rear safety trigger while simultaneously depressing the front (ON/OFF) trigger and wait 2 seconds. You should hear a beep after which you can release the front trigger. This switches the blades between a 1″ and 0.6″ cut opening. This has the effect of speeding you up when cutting smaller branches since the blades don’t need to open all the way up before resetting.

Anyone used to a pair of manual pruning shears will recognize the bypass design. The two-finger trigger comfortably closes the blade (on press) and releases it (when you let up).

The Worx cordless pruner uses a titanium-coated carbon steel blade with a non-stick surface. As one who often tackles oak saplings—that coating should prove helpful! It also helps make the blade corrosion-resistant and also easier to clean.

The brushless motor on the Worx Nitro 20V pruning shears help it generate 9,000 to 12,000 N of clamping torque. All of that comes from a single 20V MAX 2.0Ah lithium battery. Based on our experience with similar tools like the DeWalt 20V cordless pruner, we estimate you should get hundreds of cuts before depleting the battery.

Additional Features

  • Soft-grip rubber overmold handle
  • Compact and lightweight design
  • One-hand operation

Worx Nitro 20V Pruning Shears Price
