Exmark Lazer Z X-Series Adapt controls

If you mow professionally, you know that adjusting the rake, or pitch, of the deck can aid cut quality or deliver optimal results when discharging grass. The Exmark Adapt cutting deck adjustment system promises quicker access to much-needed rake controls without leaving your seat.

Exmark Adapt Deck Adjustment System

Available on select 2023 Lazer Z X-Series zero-turn mowers, Exmark Adapt works simplifies deck rake adjustment without the need for tools. It provides a dedicated rake adjustment control that functions similarly to a post-style manual deck adjustment system.

Exmark Adapt lets you adjust the deck rake in both the positive and negative directions. The system helps with optimizing side-discharge, mulching, and bagging applications.

“Adapt is perfect for contractors who maintain a lot of different turf types, because it lets them quickly optimize deck performance for the conditions. It’s also ideal for homeowners who want professional looking results, but perhaps don’t have the desire or aptitude to make manual deck adjustments. Adapt takes away the fear of misadjustment because it’s just as easy to go back to the stock ‘home’ setting as it is to adjust away from it.”

How the Exmark Adapt Deck Adjustment System Works

Setting a Positive Rake Angle

The Exmark Adapt deck adjustment system works just like raising or lowering the deck on the Lazer Z. Select a positive rake to raise the rear of the deck and increase airflow. This increases discharge velocity and reduces deck clumping and plugging. Do this when cutting wet or moist grass (also known as “mornings” in Florida).

Adjusting from a flat rake to a 1/4-inch positive rake reduces power consumption by up to 25% according to Exmark. If you want to save on fuel costs and decrease the wear and tear on your mower, this small deck adjustment can help.

Setting a Flat or Negative Rake

A flat or negative deck rake pitches the rear of the deck lower than the front. This gives the blade more contact with the grass and helps provide a cleaner cut. This negative rake angle results in fewer stragglers when cutting stalkier or seedy grass and turf.

Exmark Adapt Availability

Starting in 2023, Exmark plans to offer Adapt on select Lazer Z X-Series zero-turn mowers equipped with the UltraCut Series 6 side discharge cutting deck. This includes 52-, 60-, and 72-inch deck sizes.

Stihl RZ 760i Zero-Turn Review

In the world of outdoor power equipment, Stihl is an icon–no argument about it. Their classic orange and white color scheme immediately brings to mind the sounds of string trimmers, blowers, and, of course, chainsaws. And the brand is no stranger to mowers, either. Yet, that doesn’t mean they’ve done it all. Even a company […]

Exmark V-Series Electric Zero Turn

Not long ago, choosing battery-powered gear usually meant settling for a tradeoff between power and runtime. But not so much anymore. Indeed, in many cases, cordless equipment now matches and even surpasses gas-fueled solutions in overall performance. Perhaps more noteworthy is that this applies not only to smaller handheld equipment but also to large commercial […]
