Husqvarna 525iDEPS Achieves a First for Pole Saws

Outdoor work near live power lines can be really satisfying, but it can also be dangerous. That’s why safety is always a factor when designing any kind of OPE for use in these environments. Husqvarna had this in mind when it launched its 525iDEPS MADSAW electrical (dielectric) pole saw. Let’s have a look at the features and design of this tool.

MADSAW Electrical Pole Saw Design/Performance Breakdown

Interestingly, Husqvarna has a “first” with this gear. Designed to assist operator safety during use around live wires, the 525iDEPS is the first and only battery-powered pole saw individually tested to meet OSHA standard 1910.269 for use with live electrical power lines.

And here’s where the safety factor enters in. As you’ll see in part of its name, minimum approach distances (MAD) are the closest distance a qualified employee may approach an energized object by OSHA standards.

The Husqvarna MADSAW electrical pole saw addresses this standard through its design. In particular, its non-conductive fiberglass shaft ensures ample reach while maintaining safe distances.

What’s more, the MADSAW features shaft lengths at either 9′ or 12.5′ to help operators access hard-to-reach areas, minimizing repositioning and climbing aloft. The tool’s midsection quickly disconnects from the cutting head and powerhead for convenient and easy storage in the truck and the shop.

And last but certainly not least, driving this saw is a brushless motor powered by a 36V Lithium-ion battery. Furthermore, on the business end is a 12-inch bar with adjustable, automatic chain lubrication.
