One of the great things about OPE journalism is watching companies grow. So often, a manufacturer’s backstory adds context to news about a product or series. For instance, DK2 has come a long way since it started as a small business run out of a basement. Three generations later, they’re still at it, and they recently announced the DK2 Elite Energy Line of outdoor power equipment.
So, why is this news? Because it’s their first electric vehicle-inspired line of OPE. The series is extensive, too, and includes a disk chipper shredder, a hydraulic log splitter, a pressure washer, and a walk-behind leaf blower.
Moreover, DK2 tells us that this series of equipment features a combination of their proprietary LiFePO4 batteries and electronic vehicle (EV)-grade motors. And according to reports, this should provide up to 50% more power.
So, without further ado, let’s take a quick look at the models in this new lineup.
DK2 Elite Energy Line Battery and Equipment
LiFePO4 Battery
The ELITE ENERGY LiFePO4 battery is quite powerful. Typically, we see gear with packs that give you from 2.5Ah to 5.0Ah. Obviously, this isn’t always the case (e.g. ZTs, etc.). However, at 57.6V (20.0Ah) and a 1,024Wh output, the LiFePO4 delivers a punch.
What’s more, it has a lifespan of 3,000 cycles at 80% charge capacity, and, according to DK2, it’s resistant to fumes, leaks, and outgassing. If you don’t already know, outgassing is at the root of the first two problems.

When it comes to cordless tools, you’re going to be using lithium-ion batteries, which generate power through a chemical reaction. As the battery ages, this chemical reaction starts to complete less, creating gas (or outgassing). This will cause it to swell until, eventually, it leaks.
So, a unit that doesn’t have such issues gets a thumbs-up from us.
DK2 Elite Energy Line Disc Chipper
The DK2 3-inch 57.6V Battery Powered Disk Chipper is a compact solution. From what we’ve heard, the OPC503EV-K is capable of handling yard waste, shredding branches, and turning brush into mulch.
Of course, it’s up to you to decide if this chipper is enough for your property’s cleanup tasks.
