Tree and Forestry

While we cover lots of landscaping tools, many reviews focus on tree and forestry tools. Our tree and forestry tool reviews include chainsaw reviews and pole saw reviews. They also include log splitter reviews, stump grinder reviews, wood chipper reviews, and more. When covering these tree and forestry tools, we really focus on the three pillars of power, durability, and safety. Without any one of these three, the tools do not hold up well under intensive use. When you’re dealing with trees, you can’t afford to lose time when a tool underperforms or fails prematurely. Forestry Tool Reviews Technology is constantly changing. The introduction of cordless forestry tools is altering the way chainsaws get used above ground. New battery-powered solutions provide less noise and vibration. They even introduce more safety features for those working high above the ground—no pull start, for example. These new products may even increase your chances of winning some municipal and residential landscaping jobs.

GreenWorks Cordless Pole Saw Review G-Max 40V 8-inch

GreenWorks Cordless Pole Saw Review G-Max 40V 8-inch

As far as 40V outdoor power equipment reviews go, chainsaws are always my favorite. As such, it was a good day when the GreenWorks Cordless Pole Saw arrived. This is a 40V model in their G-Max line of cordless yard tools. We’ve already reviewed both their 40V cordless lawn mower and their 40V cordless trimmer (which was […]

Echo Timber Wolf CS-590 Chainsaw

Echo Timber Wolf CS-590 Chainsaw Review

When I was asked to review the Echo Timber Wolf CS-590 chainsaw as a heavy-duty saw, I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical. I am used to some of the other big-name commercial saws and Echo just is not a brand that is traditionally mentioned in that mix. As I began to take a […]

36V Cordless Chainsaw Shootout Comparison

36V Cordless Chainsaw Shootout Comparison

A cordless chainsaw won’t replace a full size gas saw, but they’re great for part-time use on the job site, around the property and even in the woodworking shop. Chainsaws and other power-hungry outdoor power equipment (OPE) are a perfect match for large 36V lithium-ion batteries that have proven too big for most handheld cordless […]

Echo CS-400 Chainsaw

Echo CS-400 Chainsaw Review

Reviewing a chainsaw can be a little tricky because we have found that people treat chainsaws and their brands like they do their vehicles. Ford hates Chevy, Dodge is better than Toyota… you get the idea. When we agreed to review the ECHO CS-400 18″ Chainsaw it was with the knowledge that we were going to put it into the hands of some guys who had years and years of professional tree trimming under their belts. The trouble was, they both used a competing brand. With a predisposition towards bias – because that’s just how we operate as humans – I submitted my product to them for use and tagged along to try it out alongside them, hoping to provide any necessary “balance” to their biased opinions. Turned out I got worked up over nothing… and they were downright surprised at how well the ECHO performed. One of them was quoted as saying: “this is the best chainsaw I’ve ever used that wasn’t touting itself as a pro-only model”. Not bad… not bad at all.
