On a recent PTR Live episode , we took a look at the Mean Green Battery-Powered Push Mower MPG-20. Billed as a commercial-level mower, this 20″ mower features an aluminum deck, zero emissions, and almost no fuel costs. So, what’s the major downside to this eco-friendly mowing solution? It runs about $2500.
The Mean Green Batter-Powered Push Mower weighs 78 lbs with the 20Ah battery pack attached, and it features a 36V motor. Mean Green expects the battery to provide 2-3 hours of continuous runtime per charge, and takes 4 hours to recharge. A 2-hour recharge is possible with an optional fast charger. An optional aluminum grass catcher is also available as an option.
As previously mentioned – and the real sticking point with this mower – the Mean Green Battery-Powered Push Mower retails for around $2500. At this price, return on investment could take a while, even considering the $2 an hour savings Mean Green Mowers claims for this model. Just to put it all into perspective, the self-propelled EGO 21″ mower retails for around $500.
