Chemical Guys Big Mouth Max Release Foam Cannon Blasts Big Suds

We trust Chemical Guys for our vehicle cleaning needs and were very anxious to get our hands on the Chemical Guys Big Mouth Max Release Foam Cannon. With a trio of vehicles lined up in our driveway, we warmed up our Simpson pressure washer and got to work!

  • Wide spray that covers surfaces quickly

Setting Up Your Chemical Guys Big Mouth Max Release Foam Cannon

Out of the box, all you need to do to get your Chemical Guys Big Mouth Max Release Foam Cannon ready is attach the tube, add your favorite soap (we recommend rinsing the canister out first), screw the top on, and attach it to your pressure washer.

Compatible Pressure Washers

One of the nice things is the wide range of pressure washers you can use to get excellent results. On the low side, 800 PSI and 1.4 GPM is all you need to get started. Pay attention to the flow rating, not all entry-level pressure washers are capable of 1.4 GPM and Chemical Guys highly recommends you use at least 2.0 GPM for the best results.

On the high end, stick to 3500 PSI or less and no more than 5.3 GPM. For our review, we have a gas-powered Simpson pressure washer that delivers 3500 PSI and 2.5 GPM.

Using the Chemical Guys Big Mouth Max Release Foam Cannon

The foam cannon has a quick-connect adapter on the front. Chemical Guys recommends you use a compact nozzle, but it attaches just fine to a standard wand. Just be sure to support the additional weight on the end.

Check your soap/detergent recommendation for the correct dilution. Holding 34 ounces total, 1 to 3 ounces of soap should get the job done with this size canister. If it seems to be coming out too thin, feel free to mix it a bit heavier. If it comes out too thick… well, we’ve never heard anyone complain about foam that’s too thick.

Once you have your dilution figured out, it’s just a matter of adjusting the foam cannon’s nozzle for the vehicle or surface you’re coating. The bezel is capable of a very wide stream that’s great for covering big vehicles or prepping fences and concrete quickly. It can also drop down to a nice tight stream for getting into tight spots or hitting the facia around your roof.

It’s All About the Foam

As far as the foam goes, it’s as thick as we’ve seen. Side by side against an inexpensive foam cannon we picked up, you can see the difference. The cheap one puts a good foam on the truck, but it seems watery as it quickly slides down.

The foam we got from our Chemical Guys Big Mouth Max Release Foam Cannon was much thicker and stayed on much longer.

That said, the soap you choose makes a difference. We’re partial to Chemical Guys and we seem to get the best foaming results from their soaps. We’ve also tried others that give us good results (including in this review), but we have to use more soap in our dilution to get it.

Pro Tip: Remove the canister and run clean water through the nozzle to clean it after every use. You’ll reduce buildup and extend the cannon’s life.

We primarily focused on vehicles with our review of this foam cannon, but there’s a lot more you can accomplish. We like to foam spray Simple Green on concrete, house exteriors , and fences to help prep them for pressure washing. This soap cannon is well-suited for that and other detergents as well.

Chemical Guys Big Mouth Max Release Foam Cannon Price

Chemical Guys lists the MSRP of this foam cannon at $129.99 but it’s retailing for $89.99. That’s a higher price than other models we’ve used, but the additional convenience and foaming results are well worth it in our opinion.

The Bottom Line

The Chemical Guys Big Mouth Max Release Foam Cannon is a great fit for professional detailers yet easy enough for the average car owner to use without a problem. Add in the versatility of helping you prep other pressure washing chores, and it’s a must-have accessory for anyone who owns a pressure washer.
