EGO Adds Smart Drive Technology To Your Self-Propelled Mowing Experience
Self-propelled lawn mowers help you mow your lawn while expending less energy. These types of mowers can also save you time by reducing the time it takes to get the mower moving each time you start a new line. While EGO has had self-propelled mowers since 2016, the addition of Speed IQ to their EGO LM2167SP Select Cut XP Self-Propelled Mower adds something new. Can this automatic speed adjustment system improve upon a more manual self-propelled system? We dig in to find out.
EGO 21-Inch Select Cut XP Self-Propelled Mower Adds Speed IQ
The self-propelled EGO LM2167SP lawn mower builds upon the EGO Select Cut XP by adding a new speed regulation system called Speed IQ. Speed IQ technology digitally senses your stride and automatically adapts the self-propelled motor to match your walking pace. That eliminates the need to adjust dials or levers. The lawn mower does all of the work.
While we await a review sample to give you a hands-on report, we can make several educated assumptions from the information we have. First, EGO adjusted the design of the handle which might account for some of the technology that lets the mower match your speed. Regardless of whether the sensor lives in the handle or somehow interacts with the drive wheel(s), we’re looking forward to hands-on testing.
EGO also integrated the digital display right into the handle. This industry-first provides real-time information about speed, battery charge level, and blade speed.
Finally, as with prior Select Cut models, the EGO LM2167SP lawn mower uses a multi-blade system. It actually includes three interchangeable blades in the kit (mulching, high lift bagging, and extended runtime).
