The world has gone cordless, and, in our business, those products encompass outdoor power equipment. EGO has long been a leader in that market to the point where its name immediately equates to blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and mowers. Until now, that is. Indeed, the same battery platform that drives EGO’s OPE is behind the MB1000 56V Mini Bike.
EGO 56V Mini Bike Performance
Powering the MB1000 are the brand’s 7.5Ah 56V batteries, however, you can use any capacity combination.
There are three driving modes—Eco, Normal, and Sport. Eco mode tops out at 15 mph and gives you roughly 20 miles per charge using the kitted 7.5 Ah batteries. Normal mode gets you up to 20 mph, and Sport mode tops out at 28 mph. There’s also a 2 mph reverse mode.
- Max speed: 28 MPH
- Range: Up to 20 miles
- Driving Modes: ECO, Normal, Sport, and Reverse
During field testing, our reviewers discovered that, if you want to run in the Normal and Sport modes, you’ll need both batteries to do it. Even with a 12.0Ah battery, you will only have access to Eco mode. That means that it’s more about the max draw on the individual batteries, rather than the total amperage.
Riding Experience
It probably won’t come as much of a surprise that our reviewers had a lot of fun testing this thing. Most of their driving took place on asphalt, however, they did a bit of off-roading, too. EGO did a nice job with the front and rear suspension, which gave this 56V mini bike a smooth ride, even on bumpy, unpaved terrain.
While EGO lists the top speed as 28 mph, we saw an average of 26 mph. On one occasion, the bike reached 28 but only on a downhill stretch. Of course, you should expect speed to vary depending on the weight of the rider.
As for distance, EGO says that its 56V mini bike will get you 20 miles in Eco mode using the kitted 7.5Ah batteries. We put it to the test in Sport and traveled a shade over 15 miles in 45 minutes. So, the paper estimates are pretty accurate.
If you do happen to run out of juice while riding, EGO included a battery storage compartment on the right side of the bike where you can keep a spare.

Size and Weight
This 56V mini bike weighs around 148 pounds without EGO’s batteries installed. It measures 61 inches from tip to taillight, with a 28-inch high seat, which our reviewers say makes for a comfortable upright riding position.
Creature Comforts
The EGO mini bike features full front and rear suspension to make riding over rough terrain more comfortable. The padded seat did a nice job absorbing vibration and shock in conjunction with the rear coil-over strut.
Digital Display
The digital display enables you to keep track of speed, acceleration, and battery life. You’ll also find the odometer, drive mode, headlight status, and any potential fault codes.
As with most digital LCD screens, direct sunlight does affect the screen’s visibility while you’re riding. And, as is often the case in these situations, simply blocking the sun with your hand from time to time will do the trick.
Safety Features
Our reviewers really liked that EGO incorporated a hidden speed limiter switch on this 56V mini bike. This feature gives you the option of capping the speed for younger or inexperienced riders.
Specifically, it disables the Sport mode, thus reducing the top speed to 20 mph.
The speed limiter is set to “ON” by default at the factory. To access it, open the battery bay and use the included 5mm hex wrench to remove the bolts at the front of the seat. The switch is located near the rear of the compartment underneath the seat.
EGO also equipped this mini bike with a high and low beam LED headlight, a combo tail and brake light, strong dual hydraulic disc brakes, and even a horn. We’d like to see turn signals on the next model.
EGO 56V Mini Bike Price
This MB1000 retails for $1,299 bare and $1,999 as a kit. The kit comes with two 7.5Ah batteries, a dual-port charger, and a small tool set. EGO backs this mini bike with a 5-year limited warranty.

The Final Word
Our staff wanted to get their hands on this 56V mini bike from the moment they watched EGO unveil it at last year’s Equip Expo in Kentucky. After some ride time, they were impressed with the MB1000’s features, performance, and versatility.
