Husqvarna Xcite Zero-Turn Mowers Bridge the Gap Between Pro and Residential

While there’s no shortage of zero-turn lawn mowers on the market, there are those models that perhaps shine a little brighter than others. We think this is the case with the Husqvarna Xcite zero-turn lawn mower series.

We had a chance to take both models for a spin, and here are the takeaways from our experience.

Husqvarna Xcite Zero-Turn Mower Performance

Husqvarna Xcite Zero-Turn

Straight away, one of the first things you notice is the electronic start/stop button on the left lap bar and the blade engagement button on the right. This means you can keep your eyes straight ahead.

There’s no key on the control panel to the right, but the engine throttle is on the side, as well as a secondary start/stop button.

These mowers use Kohler engines largely because of the advanced fuel system and and auto-choke features. This makes them a good match for a bar-mounted ignition system.

Husqvarna Xcite Zero-Turn Mower Series

At the time we’re writing, there are two models Husqvarna is launching with the Xcite line.

Starting off from a performance standpoint, these mowers are powerful cutters, but the Parker transmission on the Z380 has a few bonus perks. On this model, the transmission pump pairs with larger wheel motors, eliminating the need for reduction gears along with the whine that often comes from hydro transmissions. This means more speed as well as better control and fuel efficiency.

Both mowers give you a comfortable ride but, if you have to choose one of the two, the Z380’s seat and overall ride win out.

Husqvarna Xcite Zero-Turn Mower Design Notes

Suspension

With four link bars and adjustment capability, the suspension system makes a big difference in ride quality. Unlike other mowers, there are two adjustment points with four settings each, making 16 total combinations to dial it in.

The adjustments are on the left and right sides and adjust the entire suspension, not just the side it’s on. To make a change, pull the spring-loaded pin out, slide it to the position you want, and let the pin drop back in.

5-Year Stay Sharp Blades

Another great feature on the Husqvarna Xcite zero-turn mowers is their DuraSharp self-sharpening blades, which can stay in tip-top cutting order for 5 years. Of course, that number will vary depending on cutting conditions.

Digital Dashboard

The digital control panel provides a nice at-a-glance view of information like fuel level, engine/mower statistics, and service reminders.

Deck Height Adjustment

blade adjustment dial

Like many ZTs, the Husqvarna Xcite ZT Mower gives you a foot assist to raise and lower the deck. To adjust the blade anywhere from 1.5 to 4.5 inches, there’s a 12-position dial on the left side of the seat.

Choosing a setting is easy. With the deck in the travel position, turn the dial to the desired height and release the deck with the foot pedal.

Additional Highlights

  • LED headlights light up low- and no-light operating conditions
  • Greaseless bearings require no user maintenance
  • Foot-operated parking brake
  • Multiple tie-down points make trailer transport more secure
  • Rear engine guard
  • Cup holder
  • QR codes around the mower get you to specific information quickly
  • Premium all-terrain tires maintain traction in a variety of cutting conditions

Husqvarna Xcite Zero-Turn Mower Price

The Husqvarna Xcite Z350 is $5499 and the Z380 is $6999. The mowers come with a 3-year warranty plus a 4-year warranty on the SmartControl electronic components. Check with your local Husqvarna dealer for availability and demo opportunities.

The Bottom Line

Husqvarna Xcite zero-turn mowers satisfy that middle ground between professionals and homeowners. On the whole, these mowers comprise a nice combination of quality, comfort, and performance.
