Talking Points

Power

We’re seeing more and more advancement with battery-powered blower tech these days. Manufacturers like EGO and Greenworks are able to ramp up the power to numbers we’d not previously seen, particularly with handheld blowers. Now, the Oregon BLH120VX handheld blower joins the party with a 120V model aimed at the Pro market.

Oregon BLH120VX

The Oregon 120V handheld blower combines a 166 mph airspeed with 530 CFM to reach 18.5 N of force. This, in and of itself, is pretty impressive (though we’ve seen more CFM from the aforementioned models). But, the interesting thing about this model is that Oregon is claiming that the BLH120VX gets around 90 minutes of runtime on a single charge of the BX975 backpack battery, which tethers to the blower.

To achieve this sort of runtime, we take for granted that you can’t run it at full throttle. But, 90 minutes on a charge can get a lot of grass trimmings blown around, even if you’re not running at full power.

Noise

Beyond that, the Oregon BLH120VX blower also achieves a very respectable 56 dB(A) sound pressure level. Oregon does qualify this further by claiming this measurement at the “bystander’s ear” with the blower running in Stealth Mode. While we don’t know exactly is meant by a “bystander distance,” we can pretty safely say that, for communities with noise restrictions, this blower should fit the bill.

Other Features

The Oregon 210v handheld blower features enough weatherproofing to earn it an IP56 rating; running it in just about any weather condition should not present a problem. It also weighs in at 7.2 lbs, and since the battery weight will be carried on your back, you and your team will experience less arm fatigue.
