At the heart of the CBU02 is a brushless motor and the Makita ConnectX 1200Wh Portable Backpack Power Supply (sold separately), which together yield an output equivalent to a 64cc gas engine. Even with all of that power, Makita says you’ll get about 4-hours of runtime with this blower.

What’s more, you can probably stretch that further using the variable-speed trigger. And at full throttle, the Makita ConnectX Backpack Blower hits a top speed of 160 MPH, delivering 670 CFM and 22 Newtons of blowing force.

What’s more important: MPH or CFM? OPE has the answer!

The Makita CBU02 Backpack Blower has several noteworthy design elements.

First is the nozzle, which features a downward-pointing tip. The goal here is easier, more natural handling, thus reducing muscle strain and fatigue.

Moreover, this nozzle features 3-stage telescopic adjustments for added control in terms of how close to the ground you want to work.

Ergonomically speaking, the rubberized grip handle houses the controls, including a power button that enables you to turn the blower on and off while wearing it.

Something else this backpack blower has is heft. With the power supply attached, this unit is a shade over 35 pounds. However, the adjustable harness and waist belt should help balance and comfortably distribute that weight throughout the operator’s torso.

Finally, thanks to its IPX4 rating, the CBU02 can stay on the job in almost any weather–rain or shine.
