Simpson Megashot 3300 PSI Pressure Washer Review MS60921

Simpson Megashot 3300 PSI Pressure Washer Finds the Sweet Spot for Homeowners

You don’t really need a commercial-level pressure washer for the occasional tasks that pop around your home throughout the year. Coming in under $400 with a Honda engine, we decided to dive deeper into what you should expect from the homeowner-targeted Simpson Megashot 3300 PSI pressure washer.

Pros

  • Excellent pressure and flow rate for typical homeowner jobs
  • Honda GC190 engine
  • Small profile doesn’t take up a ton of floor space
  • 10-inch pneumatic tires roll well across lawns
  • Excellent value

Cons

  • Short handle design requires you to bend to reach

Recommendation

If you’re on the hunt for a gas pressure washer to use around the house, the Simpson Megashot 3300 PSI pressure washer (or one of its close cousins) really hits the sweet spot between performance and value. Powered by a Honda GC190 engine, it runs about the same price as other brands with an OEM engine in the same performance range. It’s highly unlikely you will find more bang for your buck with any other brand.

Power Plant

Simpson turns to the ever-popular Honda GC190 engine to power the MS60921. In addition to pressure washers, it’s one of the most reliable power plants on lawn mowers, including the Husqvarna model I use on my lawn.

For a pressure washer targeting homeowners, I love the call to use this engine. Expect multiple seasons of reliable starting with minimal maintenance and years of trouble-free service with basic maintenance.

Pump

The Simpson Megashot 3300 PSI pressure washer uses an OEM Technologies axial cam pump to turn the engine’s power into a gunk-removing spray. While we see a lot of AAA-branded pumps on Simpson products, they opt for an OEM Technologies one here.

Commercial-grade models will step up to a triplex pump. However, the pump choice is absolutely appropriate for this unit as an occasional use model.

Performance

At 3300 PSI and 2.4 GPM, the Simpson Megashot 3300 PSI pressure washer really hits the sweet spot for homeowners. Its higher pressure and water flow than electric models get your jobs done faster. It’s also great for pairing with a surface cleaner to knock out concrete jobs in record time.

What you can do with the power you have is pretty versatile.

  • Decks
  • Patios
  • Screens
  • Fences
  • Outdoor furniture
  • Siding
  • Paint prep
  • Concrete/stone

Where you hit limitations are on things like graffiti removal. You really need to move up to the 4,000 PSI range before you start seeing real effectiveness there, and it’s not an application most homeowners have a need to tackle.

Accessories

The Simpson Megashot MS60921 comes with a standard suite of nozzles: 0º, 15º, 25º, 40º and a soap nozzle. Between those five, it’s very unlikely you’ll need anything other than specialty accessories.

The hose is a 1/4-inch x 25-foot MorFlex non-marring hose that’s a good fit on this model. Combined with a 100-foot garden hose, you’ll have a large range to work around your house.

Additional Field Notes

We like Simpson’s minimalist frame design. It’s made from steel tubing and welded together before receiving a powder coating to stave off rust. It gives you easy access to the engine and pump when you need it while still giving it a reasonable level of protection during transport.

The handle sits low and most people will have to bend down to reach it. The positive side is that it takes up less space and you can even flip the handle around when you’re done to make it more compact.

Simpson’s 10-inch pneumatic tires are nice to have. They’re easier to roll across the yard or even bare ground than the narrower, smaller diameter wheels you find on some models.

One feature you won’t find is a soap dispenser and we’re actually okay with that call. Having a dedicated dispenser built it is helpful if all you’re using is the same kind of soap. However, if you use different cleaners for different jobs, it’s a pain to clean it out effectively.

When you connect the siphon hose to a detergent container, it’s going to pull at a 7:1 ratio using the soap nozzle—for every 7 gallons of water, it will pull 1 gallon of detergent.

Price

The Simpson Megashot 3300 PSI pressure washer in this review is available from Tractor Supply Company for $399.99. That’s a solid value compared to what we see on models that use that Honda GC190 engine and an axial cam pump.

You might be able to save some money by going with an OEM engine or less expensive manufacturer, and they’ll do fine with proper maintenance. However, we prefer the long-term reliability of Honda engines when we can get them.
