Hart 20V Pole Saw Conveniently Handles High-Hanging Limbs
Continuing on into the hassle-free line of Hart 20V OPE tools, we have the 8-inch pole saw. Extending up to 9.5 feet, this oil-free saw seemed like the perfect solution for tackling the higher-hanging overgrowth on some of our crepe myrtles and palms around the shop.
The Business End
The Hart 20V Pole Saw features an 8″ bar and chain that can tackle branches up to 6″ thick. You have your chain tension adjustment and bar nut that can both be fiddled with via the scrench that stores away at the back of the cutting head.
The interesting feature of this saw revolves around its oil-free operation. We had our doubts as to how effectively a chainsaw would cut without lubrication, but it seemed capable. The jury is still out on how effective the saw will remain over the long term without oil. But, initially, at least, the pole saw worked without a hitch. The secret likely has to do with the duty cycle. Try and use this saw like a professional tool, and you’ll overheat the chain. Use it like the consumer-oriented light-duty tool for which it is, and you should be just fine.
Reach For the Sky
The Hart 20V Pole Saw has an initial reach of 6.5′ that you can extend to a 9.5′ reach with the included extension piece. The pieces fit snugly together and then screw down to make a secure connection.
The saw weighs 8.8 lbs., making it easy to maneuver around at full height. For comfort, Hart includes soft grips on the pole and an ergonomic rear grip handle. They also included a shoulder harness that moves much of the saw’s weight from your arms to your shoulder. We didn’t feel like this was strictly necessary as the saw really wasn’t very heavy, but it’s nice to have the option.
The Pole Saw Kit comes with a 2.0Ah battery and a quick charger. Hart tells us that the charger can get your battery fully recharged in as little as 30 minutes. Our experience seems to bear this out, give or take 5 minutes.
