What’s the Big Deal?
The Worx WG163 employs a couple of features that are worth mentioning. The first thing they’ve worked into this design is tool-free adjustments. Not only does the handle adjust quickly and easily for comfort and maneuverability, but you can adjust the telescoping shaft by releasing the thumb tab, adjusting the shaft length, and locking it back into position. The spacer guard even adjusts to help you avoid cutting things you really don’t want to.
Plus, when it’s time to get some edging done, the Worx WG163 converts easily from string trimming. The cutting head swivels and locks into a sideways position more suited to the task. The WG163 includes some curiously placed rubber wheels that make a lot more sense when you switch to edging mode.
So, how does this edging function handle string feed? It doesn’t seem like the type of system that’s particularly suited for a bump feed setup. Well, it doesn’t have one. Rather, the Worx WG163 features the brand’s Command Feed spool system. With the push of a button, the trimmer head releases more of the 0.065″ line.

Bottom Line
With its smaller diameter trimmer line, you probably won’t get a whole lot of productivity out of the WG163 with anything thicker than just grass. It also seems likely that this setup will struggle with the edging if you let your grass encroach too far onto your driveways or sidewalks.
It seems clear that Worx has opted for this incredibly thin trimmer line so that the motor can maintain an effective RPM, but being as thin as it is, it will likely disintegrate against anything remotely woody or thick.
For folks that need a stouter line for heavier duty tasks, we’d recommend looking for a trimmer with more power. But, for the folks that are mostly tackling lighter-duty edging and grass trimming around the yard, the Worx WG163 could be an inexpensive and easy-to-use option that saves space and money.
