Makita Reno Nevada Facility Offers Distribution, Training, and Service

Makita USA Growing to Meet Demand

We love it when major tool companies expand and bring new jobs—so we try to report it when it happens. After 50 years in the USA market, Makita has grown at several key points over the years. As demand for Makita tools rises, the company responded by adding a new 600,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility in Reno. The new Makita Reno, Nevada facility gives the company space to expand its distribution, training, and service capabilities.

Makita on the Reno, Nevada Facility

Makita focuses on leading innovation and engineering, as well as training and after-sales service. These are cornerstones that go back to the earliest days of the company, and the addition of the new Reno facility is focused on fulfilling these promises. Makita is looking forward and we are committed to serving our valued customers.

Expanded Opportunities

The new Reno facility also improves Makita’s operational ability, letting them provide nationwide 2-day ground coverage so that customers can receive orders faster.

This $50 million expansion marks its fifth in the United States and follows a recent expansion in the Dallas area. It joins Makita’s distribution chain, including facilities in Wilmer, TX, Mt. Prospect, IL, and Buford, GA., as well as the home and distribution center in La Mirada, CA. Makita has already opened the new location with a soft launch with full operation scheduled for this fall.

Makita’s Reno facility sits on nearly 50 acres of land. It features 600,000 square feet of warehouse space fully-equipped with operational capabilities.

Makita Reno Nevada Facility Training Center

It also includes a detached 28,000 square foot state-of-the-art training center for employees and Makita dealer partners. This will offer a tailored curriculum and hands-on training, with outdoor space equipped with the infrastructure to test and run Makita’s expanding OPE lineup.

For dealer partners, training focuses on increasing knowledge of Makita’s emerging technologies, giving dealers the means to offer customers the right tools for their applications.

For Pros, the training center offers application-driven instruction on the right tools and accessories for increasing productivity and profitability on the job.

A Focus on the Future

The Factory Service Center is slated to open in late fall this year. It will serve as the latest addition to Makita’s national service network. With four times the square footage of any other Makita Service Center in the USA, it becomes the largest in the company’s chain.

Even with this most recent expansion, Makita plans to stay focused on the future. This new facility addresses increasing demand in the construction, cordless outdoor power equipment, automotive, and janitorial/sanitation equipment. Finally, Makita looks to expand on this expansion with an adjacent open space, which the company says is “shovel-ready for a planned future expansion.”
