How Does Your Chainsaw Oiler Work?

New 10-inch Makita 18V Top-Handle Chainsaw is so small, you may want to use the word “cute.” However, the chain speed and power make this a far cry from any toy. Not meant for the amateur, this Makita XCU06 chainsaw is intended for the professional tree-climber or arborist.

Makita chose to power this latest top-handle chainsaw with just 18-volts. The older brother of this saw is the 36V Makita XCU02 that we covered before. Even with just 18V, this XCU06 includes an Outer Rotor brushless motor providing a chain speed of 4,720 FPM. This is up from 1,650 FPM on the 36V model.

Users have the ability to engage Torque Boost Mode for faster cutting through tougher wood. By holding down the power button for a few seconds, Torque Boost Mode is engaged for 30-seconds. After this, it automatically returns to normal mode.

Not only do you get increased performance with the Makita 18V Top-Handle Chainsaw, you get a lighter 7.2-pound saw, including the battery. From tip to tail, this new saw measures less than 19-inches. Metal bucking spikes give the Makita XCU06 a better bite and the included D-ring makes it ready for connecting to your person.

Choosing a battery-powered saw over gas just makes sense when climbing a tree. There’s no need for cranking the saw or messing with fuel. Make sure the 18V battery is charged and bar oil is in the tank. Pull the trigger, and you’re cutting wood. There’s no word yet on the release date or price, but we know it’s coming soon. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you up to date. Check out the Makita website for more information.
