Who Makes the Lightest Weight Mower?
The weight of the Worx 40V 17-inch lawnmower (WG743) is probably the most noteworthy feature. This mower weighs in at alarmingly low 29 lbs. Worx claims that this is half the weight of a gas-powered mower, and we’re inclined to agree with that claim.
Undoubtedly, the mower attributes some of that to its 17″ nylon-resin deck. And, without the gas engine, fuel tank, oil reservoir, air filter, etc. to contend with, it naturally weighs significantly less than a steel-decked gas model. Consequently, 29 pounds makes this mower light enough to fold up and hang on the wall when you finish (if you feel so inclined).
Works WH743 Mower Features
The Worx 40V 17-inch mower runs on two of the Worx Power Share 20V batteries, meaning that you can use the same Worx batteries you’d use with, say, your Worx Power Cleaner or your Worx SwitchDriver . Worx tells us that with the juice provided by the two 4.0 Ah batteries that come kitted with the mower, you can get up to 1/8 of an acre mowed on a charge. That may seem small for some, but it matches the typical yards we find in many downtown neighborhoods.
The Worx WG743 features IntelliCut, which monitors the mower blade RPM levels in real-time. It then makes adjustments as needed for maximum efficiency. Further, you can make your own torque adjustments. For thicker grass, set the dial to “Turbo,” or switch to “Eco” mode for maintenance cutting.
You can make quick adjustments to your cut height via the single-point adjustment at the 8.5″ wheel. Worx gives you seven height positions to choose from ranging from 1-1/2″ to 4″.
The Worx 40V 17-inch lawnmower also features a Nutricut multi-cut blade for mulching your clippings. Or, you can choose to use the included 1.2-bushel rear bag to collect clippings. Worx even gives you a handy full-bag indicator so you don’t have to guess about when it needs emptying.
