EGO 56V String Trimmer – ST1502SA

EGO 56V String trimmer ST1502SA

EGO has made a big name for itself as a leader in the battery-powered outdoor equipment market. That’s why John Deere is partnering with them to build its line of cordless gear using EGO batteries. Of course, EGO is still making its own tools, as well, one of which is the EGO 56V String Trimmer (ST1502SA).

EGO ST1502SA String Trimmer Performance

EGO ST1502SA

There are a number of features at play with this string trimmer.

The EGO ST1502SA comes with a brushless, high-efficiency motor powered by a 56-volt (2.5Ah) lithium-ion battery. Together, this duo should provide gas-equivalent performance.

  • Model: EGO ST1502SA
  • 56V (2.5Ah) lithium-ion battery
  • Brushless motor
  • 15″ cutting swath
  • Rapid Reload+ Head
  • Weight: 7.4 lbs.

In terms of cutting ability, the EGO 56V string trimmer should have no trouble tackling fairly dense growth. It can clear 15″ swaths using 0.095-inch line. This, along with the bump-head line advancement, will make quick work of challenging lawn maintenance tasks.

But the EGO ST1502SA trimmer’s key upgrade is the Rapid Reload+ Head, which enables you to easily replace the string without the trouble of winding. Instead, you simply insert the line at any angle and twist it to get going again.

EGO 56V String Trimmer Design

First, let’s address the split-shaft design. Unlike straight-shaft models, which come in one piece, a split-shaft trimmer folds prior to assembly.

While retailers typically list this in the description of the tool, there is no real benefit to its function–not even garage/shed storage. Rather, it’s more a matter of boxing material, shipping economy, and shelf space.

On the other hand, the unit’s IPX rating is important. According to EGO, this 56V string trimmer carries an IPX4 rating. Although you can’t completely submerge it in water, it will resist splashes from any direction, so you don’t need to run for cover when rain falls.

EGO ST1502SA Price

This EGO 56V string trimmer retails as a kit for $199 and comes with a 2.5Ah battery and charger. EGO backs your purchase with a 5-year limited warranty on the tool and a 3-year limited warranty on the battery and charger.
