EGO Extends Commercial Offerings with Muscular Top-Handle Chainsaw
EGO is extending their professional line and taking aim at arborists and utility tradesmen with the EGO Power+ Commercial Top-Handle Chainsaw. Joining the ranks of other well-known professional chainsaw brands offering a battery-powered top-handle chainsaw, this one has several design elements worth considering.
EGO Power+ Commercial Series Top-Handle Chainsaw: The Big Deal
Out of the gate, EGO wants to make sure there’s enough power to get the Pro’s attention. With the brushless motor matching the cutting power of a 35.2cc gas engine, you can be sure there’s more than enough power for the saw’s 12-inch Oregon bar and chain. In fact, you can swap out the stock bar for a 14- or 16-inch bar if you need more capacity.
Then there’s the power source. The initial commercial line launched with a backpack battery that provided a ton of runtime compared to the 56 batteries you find on the residential line. However, you could buy an adapter to use those batteries if you liked.
EGO is running with that idea and includes a 5.0Ah battery with a belt holster in the kit that makes up to 265 cuts on a charge. This keeps the weight of the battery off of the tool—a big deal for using a chainsaw at height—and doesn’t burden you with a backpack to manage as you climb.
That said, the connection is the same as the backpack battery if you would like to use it.
One other new feature worth pointing out is a low oil indicator to go with its adjustable automatic oiler. Rather than relying on a translucent window, an LED light lets you know when it’s time to stop and refill.

EGO Power+ Commercial Top-Handle Chainsaw Price
While EGO has yet to set an official date for the release of the CSX3000 Commercial Top-Handle Chainsaw, it does show that it’s coming soon on the company website and it’s currently available in Europe.
We’re still waiting on official pricing for the US market. However, the bare tool price is £399.00. The kit runs £599.00 and includes the CSX3000 chainsaw, the battery harness, battery, and charger. With today’s conversion, you’re looking at around $562 and $844 respectively. It probably won’t be that high, though. We’ve seen one early price suggesting the kit will be closer to $675.
One thing that we can confirm is that the EGO CSX3000 will come with a 5-year warranty.
