This month, CAT has released news about their new front loader model. The 903D CAT Compact Wheel Loader offers users an upgrade from the brand’s previous 903C2 model, with more lifting capacity as well as a boost in travel speed. The new compact wheel loader works ideally in farming and industrial applications with all the optional tools it takes to get a variety of tasks accomplished on just about any terrain.
What’s The Big Deal With The New CAT Compact Wheel Loader?
Operator Comfort
The 903D CAT Compact Wheel Loader can come in either an open or closed cab style. The operator station features a newly refined ergonomic design to help those long days feel less long. CAT has increased the leg room, improved the pedal positioning, and made it easier to enter and exit the cab. CAT has even included a suspension seat and made the steering wheel adjustable.
A multifunction joystick provides fingertip control to the standard third-function hydraulic system. Additionally, the joystick provides controls for directional changes, differential locks, and continuous hydraulic flow. The 903D can also come with optional ride control, which reduces fatigue for the operator as well as reducing the material loss from the bucket when traveling.
Efficient and Powerful
The 903D CAT Compact Wheel Loader uses a fuel-efficient, Tier 4 final CAT C2.4 engine. It’s rated at 40 Hp, and it comes with a hydrostatic transmission that provides travel speeds up to 12.4 mph. CAT has also designed the 903D with planetary-reduction axles that can come with optional differential locks that the user can engage on-the-fly. This allows the 903D to respond to ground conditions instantly.
The 903D can also come with optional features, like creep control and a throttle lock, which allow the user to control ground speed and engine speed independently. A standard auxiliary hydraulic system produces enough hydraulic horsepower to operate any number of hydraulic tools, such as brooms, power box rakes, and grapple buckets. The CAT Compact Wheel Loader also comes standard with universal coupler, which allows for the user to switch attachments from the cab.
The 903D also comes with a Z-bar type loader linkage that provides both aggressive bucket digging and efficient control over fork applications. Boom arms are available in both standard and high-lift configurations. The loader linkage also features standard boom-float and return-to-dig functions.
Serviceability
The 903’s design allows for easier routine maintenance. It features a hood that actually opens fully, allowing easy access to the engine compartment. In this compartment, you’ll find side-by-side coolers and a transparent fuel/water separator. The CAT Compact Wheel Loader can also come with an optional engine air pre-cleaner and radiator screen for applications that kick up a lot of dust. New oil fill locations allow for easier access for oil changes. It also has redesigned rear tie-down locations for easier transport.
