We’ve come a very long way since the dawn of the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV). It was actually back in 1961 when the Jiger Amphicat 6-wheeler made its debut at the first ATV. The Sperry Rand Tricart followed in 1968 as the first 3-wheel ATV. While those may have come first, most of use remember the ATV craze being started by the Honda ATC90 in 1970. A solid fork and frame, with no suspension, besides the large bouncy tires. As decades pass, that ATVs continue to transform, and 3-wheelers were outdated altogether. In fact, the four-wheeler ATV lives still today, but we now have the dawn of UTV. Rather than 4 wheeler riding a straddled seat, the UTV is a full ride-in vehicle. In fact, the new ODES Industries Dominator X4 UTV line has five seats and up to 86 horsepower.
ODES Industries has an internal commitment to produce quality UTVs that more people can afford. How do they do this? ODES says they source products from more than one place. In fact, they use manufacturers from USA, Canada, Mexico, Asia, and Japan. We noticed that China wasn’t in the mix, hence a surprise not to see them. The factory is located in Asia, where the ODES Industries Dominator X4 UTV is partially assembled and inspected.

As winter approaches, it’s great to know that ODES has your back, your warm back. The ODES Dominator X4 UTV comes standard with heated front seats. They don’t just heat your back either, it takes care of your rump as well. What a bonus! With up to five people aboard, this can wreak havoc on a clutch. ODES includes the CV-Tech Trail Block clutch system on the Dominator X4 line. This clutch from CV-Tech is considered the best in the industry and is made in Canada. Our Canadian friends understand clutches, with all the snow machines that run around up there.
Taking out the bumps and bruises is the VI-Lock suspension, designed by Desert Concept in California. The Variant Interlocking (VI-Lock) boxed arm suspension provides 14 inches of travel. This suspension absorps the rocks and undulations, so your back doesn’t have to.
Our Thoughts
What started out as play toy for the dunes, ponds and trails has morphed into so much more. The UTV vehicles of today are found in the woods for hunting, on the farms for work, and the racetracks. ODES Industries Dominator X4 line of UTVs definitely looks impressive, and we’re excited to get our hands on one to try it out.
