Kobalt fights the Winter Warlock with its 22-inch 80V snow blower
Obviously, we’ve reviewed thousands of tools from dozens of outdoor power equipment manufacturers here at OPE Reviews. Kobalt is one of them, and based on our experience, it’s a brand that we trust. And, to add context, they haven’t been around very long. In partnership with J.H. Williams, Lowe’s launched the brand in 1998. So, you could say that they’ve made big strides in a short period of time. Therefore, we think you should know about the Kobalt 80V Snow Blower (KSB 4280-06), especially as the cold season approaches.
Let’s take a tour of its features and design. Perhaps this is the weapon you’ve been looking for to conquer the Winter Warlock.
Kobalt 80V Snow Blower Performance Features
Right away, we liked what we saw with the motor. It is indeed brushless, so you should expect smooth, efficient performance out of this unit. Powering the single-stage KSB 4280-06 are two batteries: an 80V 4.0Ah and 2.0Ah battery. Naturally, that gives you a total of 6.0Ah, which is pretty good–particularly for a model at this price point.
According to Kobalt, these bigger 80V batteries will give this snow blower a longer runtime and more power.

In terms of the KSB 4280-06’s business end, it clears 22-inch swaths with each pass. Furthermore, its 1-foot-high intake can handle snow up to 12 inches deep, with a throwing arm of 30 feet. Is it worthy of the Yankees? You decide. However, we’re confident in saying that, once again, this is excellent performance for the price.
In fact, its capabilities are double those of other models we’ve seen selling for about the same price.
Regarding the auger, Kobalt chose rubber for this 80V snow blower. We prefer this route, as we’re finicky about our driveway and paths at the OPE Reviews compound.
Finally, it almost goes without saying that we’d like to see a self-propelled drive system, but you’ll get some assistance from the auger.
Kobalt 80V Snow Blower Design
As we just mentioned, the KSB 4280-06 has a human drive system. Yet, in spite of that, you will get some help from the auger. Additionally, Kobalt included 8-inch rear wheels, which will enhance maneuverability. So, there’s another design element to compensate.
What’s more, Kobalt added some nice LED features to this 80V snow blower, and that’s something we think is important. After all, you’ll be working in unfavorable conditions, and probably at night.
For example, you’ve got an onboard LED panel that displays battery life. Moreover, you have to account for forward visibility, which makes LED lights a necessity. And the KSB 4280-06 has those, too.
Generally speaking, the bottom line is that this tool has a lot of things going for it.
