CAT 306 CR Mini Hydraulic Excavator

Caterpillar Launches Into 6-Ton Class

The release of the CAT 306 CR Mini Hydraulic Excavator marks the company’s first foray into the 6-ton class. They’ve designed the new 306 CR to deliver strong performance, improved operator experience, and simpler maintenance with extended intervals.

Performance

The new CAT 306 CR can lift up to 7,839 lbs at a 9.8 ft radius. With enhanced uphill swing torque and increased cycle times, operators can achieve greater productivity and better efficiency.

It comes equipped with a fuel-saving, load-sensing hydraulic system with an electronically controlled variable-displacement piston pump that generates 46 gal/min hydraulic oil flow. Compared to competitively-sized excavators, the CAT 306 CR delivers better travel performance and more digging force.

The 306 CR has a high flow rate of 24 gal/min to the auxiliary circuit, enabling the peak performance with even the most demanding hydromechanical attachments. It comes with quick-disconnect lines that provide one-way, two-way, and continuous flow.

With its long stick option and sealed and pressurized cab, the CAT 306 CR can reach a maximum dig depth of 162″ and 15,821-lb max operating weight. CAT has built it with a swing boom and compact radius design, allowing for a low, 58″ tail swing with counterweight for working close to obstructions.

Efficiency

Improved operator comfort, convenience, and safety were all built into the design of the CAT 306 CR. The sealed and pressurized cab (a canopy version will become available next year) lowers in-cab noise levels to 72 dB(A) and is heated/air-conditioned. It comes with a roll over protective structure, tip over protections structure, and top guard to ramp up the safety.

The CAT 306 CR features a next-gen LCD monitor where you can set personal operating preferences and read machine information like fuel levels, coolant temperature, and maintenance monitoring. It has a jog-dial for simple navigation, and it features Bluetooth capability.

You can even switch between a conventional lever/foot pedal steering system and CAT’s Stick Steer system. This exclusive system improves control with less effort. A pattern changer allows you to select a preferred joystick movement for controlling the mini excavator.

Maintenance

The CAT 306 CR shares components with other models in the CAT mini excavator line. This lowers repair costs, decreases service times, and reduces your repair parts inventory.

Additionally, CAT modeled the upper and lower frames, track frames, boom, and stick after the larger CAT excavators for better durability. Recessed side panels are protected from damage in the field, but can be quickly and easily replaced.

Ground level access to maintenance checkpoints makes the internals and grease points easier to access, which shortens the daily service routine. The filters on the CAT 306 CR have an extended service life, meaning there’s less downtime.
