Cub Cadet ZTX6 Zero-Turn Lawn Mower

Cub Cadet ZTX6

The mower that we’re about to dive into has already made our Best Lawn Mowers and Best Riding Lawn Mowers lists. However, a dedicated tour of the features can never hurt. And, trust us, there are some nice performance elements to discuss with the Cub Cadet ZTX6 Ultima series zero-turn.

So, let’s take a look at what makes this model tick and why it landed on our list as the best residential ZT mower.

Cub Cadet ZTX6 Performance Features

Cub Cadet ultima series

Up front, we’ll reinforce our opinion that this model sits at the top of Cub Cadet’s residential Ultima line. As we stated in our best-of review, the ZTX6 bridges the gap between consumer and professional needs, offering high-end performance without premium professional mower prices.

That’s partly thanks to the 852cc Kawasaki engine that Cub Cadet included on the ZTX6. With a 2-cylinder V-Twin design, this commercial-grade powerhouse puts out 25 hp. It delivers forward speeds of up to 9 mph and reverse speeds of 3.5 mph.

But it’s also thanks to its noteworthy suspension.

Specs

  • Model: Cub Cadet ZTX6
  • Engine: 852cc Kawasaki
  • 25 hp
  • Forward speed: 9 mph
  • Reverse speed: 3.5 mph
  • Deck: 60-inch
  • Blades: 3

Specifically, it comes with front suspension and independent suspension caster wheels. We think this setup delivers a smoother ride with less vibration, especially on rough, uneven lots.

Moreover, Cub Cadet has given the ZTX6 heavy-duty Turf Master rear tires that, in our experience, provided enhanced traction. Naturally, this improves performance on challenging terrain and helps reduce gas consumption.

Finally, the lap bars quickly adjust to the current operator’s liking.

ZTX6 Ultima Series Design

When it comes to design, this mower is well-built with great features.

For one, the team at Cub Cadet gave the ZTX6 three blades and a 60-inch deck, which we thought made for confident and efficient cutting. What’s more, if you prefer a steering wheel to lap bars, the ZTXS6 is an option worth considering.

Another nice touch is the high-back seat.

Additionally, Cub Cadet gave this mower a tubular steel frame, a high-back seat, and LED lights for evening work.

Cub Cadet ZTX6 Price

This 60-inch zero-turn retails for $8,799. Furthermore, Cub Cadet backs the mower with a 3-year no-hour-limit warranty, and a lifetime limited frame and deck shell warranty.
