Every year, more people are ditching their gas cans and making the leap to battery-powered outdoor equipment. And, yes, the overwhelming majority of consumers do prefer cordless solutions. That said, it’s a mistake to completely disregard corded alternatives. Indeed, electric tools actually have certain benefits. They’re powerful, you don’t have to charge them, and they’re easy on your wallet. We think a good example is the Worx 10-inch electric pole saw (WG309).

Let’s take a tour of this model’s features and design to help you decide if this is the right option for you.

Worx 10-Inch Electric Pole Saw Performance

Out of the gate, we have to say that the WG309 is surprisingly aggressive. Specifically, its 8-amp motor delivers a respectable chain speed of 28 feet per second. According to Worx, this gives you a cutting capacity of up to 10 inches.

Specs

  • Model: Worx WG309
  • 8-amp motor
  • Bar length: 10 in
  • Chain speed: 28 fps
  • Cutting capacity: 10 in

While power is certainly important, extension is also a critical factor. With the WG309, you’ll have 10 feet of reach thanks to the unit’s telescoping pole, which easily attaches to the saw (no tools required).

Furthermore, Worx designed this model to function as two tools in one: An electric pole saw for trimming branches, and a regular chainsaw for cutting on the ground.

In terms of the WG309’s design, there are a few things worth mentioning.

First, the total weight is pretty reasonable at just 13 pounds. Therefore, we don’t think maneuverability will be a problem. Also, Worx added an on/off switch to the pole itself so that you can control the power without having to lower the saw.

Finally, as we always like to see on a chainsaw, the WG309 features toolless tensioning and has an automatic oiler.

Worx WG309 Price

The Worx 10-inch electric pole saw sells for $104.53 and comes with a 3-year limited warranty.
