ECHO’s chainsaws have long been fierce competition for rival brands. Over the last 50 years, they’ve earned a reputation as powerful, high-performance tools that cater to the full spectrum of OPE consumers. This is especially true of their 50cc models, which are popular not only for performance but also for their size and weight characteristics. One such chainsaw is the ECHO CS-4920, which our staff put to the test. Here’s what they thought of it.

An upgrade to the ECHO CS-4910, the CS-4920 runs on a 50.2cc stratified 2-stroke engine. This engine also features a spring-based anti-vibration system.
Right away, it was clear that the 4920 was a fast cutter. During testing, our staff put it to work on a fallen oak tree. This entailed attacking branches that were 16 to 18 inches thick. And they had no trouble getting the job done.
Echo CS-4920 Chainsaw Features and Design
- 11.1-pound dry weight
- Decompression valve for easier starting
- Momentary stop switch
- Easy access air filter
- G-Force air pre-cleaner
- Purge bulb
- Dual-stud bar security
- Side access chainsaw tensioner
More than anything, this model stands out for its weight. At a shade over 11 pounds, the ECHO CS-4920 chainsaw is the lightest in its class. To add some context, that’s over half a pound lighter than Husqvarna’s 550 XP and more than a pound less than Stihl’s MS 271 Farm Boss.
Our staff thought the air filter access was another noteworthy feature. Indeed, it’s actually a tool-free system. All you have to do is release the latch on the lower section, pull the cover back toward the handle, and the air filter and spark plug are right there waiting for you.
CS-4920 Price
Our staff also liked that the shift from the 4910 to the 4920 boosts the features, but not the price. With a 20-inch bar, this model sells for $379.99 and comes with 5-year consumer and 1-year commercial warranties.
The Bottom Line
The ECHO CS-4920 is an ideal choice for those who want a Prosumer-grade chainsaw. Considering that it can take 16- to 20-inch bars, this model can handle a series of applications ranging from maintenance projects to storm cleanup. However, Pro foresters and arborists who really put saws through their paces will probably benefit more from Echo’s more rugged X-Series CS-501P.
