EGO Carbon Fiber Hedge Trimmer

EGO Carbon Fiber Hedge Trimmer

EGO Rolls Out Carbon Fiber On Newest Battery-Powered Hedge Trimmer

The EGO Carbon Fiber Hedge Trimmer marks the first time we’ve seen a hedge trimmer with a rail made from this stiff but lightweight material. Curious about the advantages—particularly weight reduction—we wanted to take a closer look.

EGO Carbon Fiber 26-inch Hedge Trimmer: The Big Deal

Clearly refusing to mess around, EGO decided their first carbon fiber hedge trimmer would also be their longest. At 26 inches it bests their previous 25-inch and 24-inch models. The company also produces a 25-inch commercial hedge trimmer as well as a tool designed for its commercial pole system.

The blades feature a dual-action motion, running at speeds up to 3,400 strokes per minute. That should let it cut quickly through branches up to 1-1/4-inches in thickness. We don’t have exact specs, but from the photos, that’s our guess on capacity.

Of course, with a rail made from carbon fiber, we have a lot of questions regarding weight and durability. As an industry first, the use of carbon fiber in this EGO hedge trimmer definitely reduces weight. On a tool like this that tends to extend up and overtop hedges and bushes, reducing weight can really make a huge difference. The real question has to do with whether carbon fiber holds up as well as traditional steel.

The EGO HT2601 features a 180° rotating handle. Five adjustable handle positions let you get the exact position you need to ergonomically work.
